Artist Statement I went to the University of Miami to study photojournalism from 1996-2000. During this time I developed a passion for exploring the world with my camera. I focused most of my early work on documentary stories, photographing people and telling their stories. I learned much about the power of photography during this time, the power to capture moments in time, the power to change the way I saw the world, and the power to show other people what I saw and cared about. After school I worked at a couple newspapers, photographing news events. I soon realized that I wanted more freedom with my photography and I again struck out on my own, seeking out people and objects to photograph. I soon became drawn to textures and abstract compositions. I began photographing old walls, rusted machines, and doorways. This interest in abstract compositions then took me into natural landscapes where I have been photographing patterns, and textures of nature. My work has lately been focused on abstracting patterns in rivers, trees, plants, ice, etc. I have exhibited my work in Seattle gallery spaces
