Description This is a great blue heron in a spartina marsh on the coast of South Carolina. There are oysters in the background. This is also another watercolor that took over 10 years to finish! Needless to say, the grass haunts my dreams:)

Artist Statement Born to love the outdoors, I have always gravitated towards the horse, especially Equus ferus (the American wild horse). Just like every other little girl, I daydreamed about horses, horses, and oh, did I mention horses? As I grew up, I honed on my skills as an artist and a rider. I like to capture the natural balance of a photo or painting; igniting that inner little girl and how I viewed the world. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder but nothing can be as beautiful as capturing the spirit of wildness. Although I've earned my Masters in Biology working for the conservation of wildlife and the environment, my dreams hold true to eventually working with wild horses out west. I abstain from going insane by putting that energy into a variety of creative outlets, like painting and drawing. Horses are my number one hobby but I also like the outdoors, kayaking, birding, hiking, and every now and again, sitting down with a good book. I joined the Army in hopes with working for the Horses for Heroes Program but unfortunately, funding was cut and now I just play soldier. Art has allowed an outlet for me for a lot of the experiences I've had while serving. My art portrays my love for the outdoors, the horse, but above all, a life to live.
