Richard Nunez, Dallas Member Since October 2010 Artist Statement Richard Nunez is a self-taught painter and artist who came to International attention through his discovery as a live artist painting for local restaurants and charity galas and celebrities. His unique creations are a connection, to not only his personal experiences in life, but to capturing the essence of the mood, place and time in whatever he is recreating. Born and raised in Fort Wayne, Indiana, Richard is a Native American whose roots originate from the Apache tribe. He currently is based out of Dallas, TX. He travels nationwide with various charities and celebrities. Richard paints with a unique genre that springs from the expression of an artist whose background is full of character-building experiences. From forklift driver to stand up comic, from homeless to successful restaurant manager, from working for celebrities to secretly living out of a storage unit, he has tasted the different sides of life that have increased his Faith in what he offers in his interpretation of life on paper, canvas and walls. His personal story was written to Hollywood, and although it may never be reproduced on film, you can still feel a strong connection to what he produces with pencil or paint.
Richard's concerns for children, abused women, and the arts have moved him to raise funds, through donated works of art, for such organization as the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, FMPAT, Make-A-Wish Foundation, Cattlebaron's Ball,Cancer Research, Diabetes Foundation, Breast Cancer Awareness, March of Dimes, and many more. He has painted several times for the House of Blues, Dan Aykoryd, Jim Belushi, BB King, Buddy Guy, Gispy Kings, Tony Stewart, Vince Gill, several NFL Players and other celebrities as well. He is working with Lewis Johnson and NBC to paint live at the Olypmics in 2010. He is always open to having his Gift be used to restore lives and raise awareness for the rights of women and children.
