Artist Statement I named my shop Happydogtales after my lovable Labrador Retriever, Happy. I rescued him from the Spokane Humane Society in 2011 and knew immediately he would make a wonderful therapy dog. I am a retired middle school counselor who always wanted to bring a dog into my counseling office to help calm down anxious students. Unfortunately, I could never convince my principal of the idea so I had to wait until my retirement. Happy and I are now a Pet Partner team (for more info on that go to www.pet partners.org) and we visit patients at local Spokane hospitals and elementary schools. I also teach part-time in the Counselor Education Departments at Gonzaga and Eastern Washington Universities so we often visit with college students during mid-terms and finals weeks.

I am a breast cancer survivor and wished that someone would have brought a therapy dog into the chemo suite when I was receiving my treatments. It would have been wonderful to cuddle with a dog during that very scary time in my life. I want to be able to do that for others now so one of the places we visit monthly is CancerCare Northwest in Spokane.

Spokane, WA is a beautiful place to live with rivers, lakes and mountains everywhere. I love taking pictures of nature, animals and the beautiful sunsets here. I also love traveling so you will see photographs from some of the various places I have been fortunate to visit. I appreciate your feedback. Enjoy!
