Description A fine art print of a pen and ink drawing. This is #3 in a series of monochrome drawings of parrot tulips which were drawn from life in February 2007.
What I enjoy about drawing the tulips in this particular way is that it produces a rather curious mix of a loose version of a botanical drawing with something which is rather more abstract.

I have a longstanding commitment to the value of drawing and use of dry media and am particularly interested in the subtleties of colour. I'm stimulated by repetition and variation - by the shapes and patterns I find in the natural world, the structure of objects and places and the way in which light impacts on both colour and form. In relation to places, my preference is to work from life wherever possible and I very much enjoy working "en plein air" and in public places.
Critical acclaim of my artwork focuses on my drawing skills and my use of colour. I exhibit in the UK and overseas and with various national art societies and I have work in private collections in the UK, Australia and the USA.
