Artist Statement Vibrant, fluid, alive...and from the heart.

Many artists are attracted to art from an early age... Chris Blevins took it up much later in life. After flunking art in grade school :-) she waited until 48 years young to let a wild hair take hold and sign up for a watercolor class. By the third of ten lessons, she was hooked.

Since that fateful day, Chris’ vibrantly-colored, fluid watercolors have been selected for exhibit at several juried shows. She was the featured artist for the June 2011 Historic Downtown Kennewick Artwalk and her works have been requested for auction at several charity events in both Tri-Cities, Washington and Aiken, South Carolina. Her most exciting moment to date was being published in The Artists Magazine as one of the winners of their annual competition (Abstract/Experimental category).

Chris loves working in watercolors because of their energy and unpredictability. She often begins a piece with no plan in mind. Her best results are when she gets out of her own way and lets the painting happen through her.

Chris is happy to be in Washington State after a few year foray to the deep South. She and Cooper, her 6 lb Schweenie (ShihTzu/Dachsund cross), reside in Richland, Washington, USA.
