Artist Statement Marinella was born in 1975 in Zürich, Switzerland, her mother was Greek (Cretan) and her father from Sicily. She, already at an early age, discovered how art could help her escape the stresses of everyday life. Her Art always tended towards the spiritual and peaceful. Marinella was naturally and instinctively attracted to Greek Icons and Byzantine Art, which she studied from 1998 for two years in a convent in Hania, Crete.
Today Marinella has developed two styles, she paints floral oil paintings using lush and vibrant colours and Icons which, with a decidedly modern sensitivity, are to be considered Contemporary Byzantine Art.
Marinella is a International Artist who's works can be admired in exhibitions in America, Canada, Germany, Italy, Greece, Austria and Switzerland.
