Description Title:MOVING HOUSE AT NIGHT, v3.Year: 2023.Series Title: DIGITAL PAINTINGS.Series Year(s): 2023 (On-going).* About this Photograph: This is a digital photographic manipulation art piece of a photograph I created at nighttime. I was looking for insects to photograph, for some reason. I guess I like to see what tiny creatures are prowling about at nighttime. I saw a long, continuous line of black ants hauling what appears to be an ant pupa--a silk cocoon that encloses a young ant. Each of the ants were carrying one of these, so I assume the ant colony was moving house at nighttime. I wanted to isolate a single ant with pupa. Of course I had to use a macro lens, and I also used external fill flash (camera-right and above). The ant was moving fast so I had to pre-focus at a spot in the frame where I wanted to capture the tiny beast. Can you imagine the strength that an ant must have to carry something over long distances (for an ant), which probably weighs almost as much as the ant does. Ants are very interesting. Once, on the other side of the island, I had to stop my driving (I was driving slowly looking for things to photograph), and along a very remote road I spotted a caravan of HUGE ANTS, walking across the road--I couldn't believe how huge these black ants were ('huge' means maybe 1 inch in length). Maybe these were a group of Bullet Ants or Dinoponera quadriceps, being so big, but these species are not native to Malaysia, unless, by accident some got transported here and grew into a colony.
