In 1991, Michele left her career in pediatric nursing and entered the field of documentary filmmaking. While her underwater still photos have been published internationally, the focus of her work has been in marine wildlife documentary film production.
She has co-produced or produced 10 award-winning television documentaries, including Shadows in a Desert Sea, Jewels of the Caribbean (National Geographic), Secrets of the Ocean Realm (PBS), Shark Mountain (PBS), and programming for Tokyo Broadcasting Systems.
Michele's interest in large-format filmmaking was sparked in 1994 when she was the Location Manager for IMAX's first underwater 3D film, Into The Deep. Her other IMAX credits include: Producer of Island of the Sharks, Location Manager for and on-camera talent in Coral Reef Adventure. More recently she was a Producer for the IMAX 3D film Deep Sea 3D released in 2005, and for another IMAX3D film Under the Sea 3D released in 2009.
