Artist Statement Born September 20, 1968 Los Angeles, CA after being diagnosed with End Stage Renal Disease I ended up in a Dialysis Center 3x a week. Depressing was an understatement as I bore witness to other patients who in addition to kidney disease (and it took on different forms) were also diagnosed with other disorders including cancer, advanced forms of diabetes leading to amputations, lupus, and Aids. Victims of cancer were the worst because their insides were rotting the smell was horrendous. I stood out because of my age at that time 33 but I appeared healthy despite otherwise. This baffled my nephrologist, he would always say, "on the outside you look so healthy but it masks the destructiveness that is happening inside of you. in order to combat the depression that so often leads to an early death I found a new hobby: artwork, the staff would gather around me whenever I started to create a new project and this inspired me to keep doing it no matter what the circumstances.
