Description Originally titled Return to Beauty, this is a shot of a Nankeen Night Heron, also known as a Rufous night Heron or Nycticorax caledonicus It has the most beautiful coloured plumage, the feathers reportedly the colour of nankeen cloth, but I would describe it more like cinnamon, with subtle pink hues. It is a ,medium to small heron and like most night herons it has 2 pure white thin feathers running from the head down the back during the breeding season. This breeding plumage is well displayed on this bird. The bokeh background shows a Paperbark Eucalyptus tree at the left and a watering hole or billabong in the top right. This was taken near Port Douglas in Queensland, Australia and it is a truly beautiful member of the Heron family which was one of my favourite wildlife memories of my trip in 2013
