Artist Statement First, about my last name: Yes, it really is Delight! It is an old family name and there are many of us Delights in the world.


Now, about me and my art: I have an insatiable passion for learning as much as I can about our world and I love to read and tell stories. Instead of using words to tell stories, I use paint. I paint stories about Truth and Beauty. I paint the stories often overlooked by our hectic modern culture: The beauty and truth that are found in the authenticity of a simple object, the rich, complex beauty of an older woman, and the transcendent reality of this planet on which we live.


I choose my paint, supplies, and tools carefully. I do my best to use the least toxic and harmful materials available, and I use tools and materials that do not contain animal products of any kind. My subject matter comes from the stories I see around me, and the ways in which we are all connected to each other and to our Earth.


The Pacific Ocean has been the constant and timeless thread throughout my life. It was inevitable that it has become the focus for my work. I am currently working on learning to paint the sea at my doorstep and painting a series of plein air seascapes.
