Artist Statement Creativity should be his middle name. Born in 1953 in Budapest, Hungary, Arpad Petrass has over 40 years of experience in the Entertainment Industry as a Scenic and Lighting Designer and is currently a Technical Director for the past 15 years at Disney Creative Entertainment. He holds a Masters in Fine Arts Degree in Theatre and Lighting design from the University of California , Irvine and resides in Capistrano Beach, California.

As a talented lighting and scenic designer Arpad has created more than 300 designs for theatre, dance and opera across the USA, including world premiers and universities and college stages.

Photography has always been Arpad’s hidden passion and in November of 2013 he finally released his passion to the world. He now brings his unique and creative vision for you to enjoy.

He is quickly becoming a new, emerging and upcoming photographer in Landscape, Travel and Abstract photography.

He entered his first Juried Photography Exhibition-THE ART OF TRAVEL PHOTOGRAPHY- in June of 2014 at the PhotoPlace Gallery. His “Grandmother Tree” was selected from over 900 entries as one of the TOP winning photographs for the gallery exhibition by famed National Geographic Magazine editor Kurt Mutchler. That successful exhibition has propelled Arpad to move forward and he has never looked back. He continues to win and sell his prize winning photographs at local art galleries in Southern California.

Arpad says that “Photography should delight and excite the senses." There are so many magical moments in life that if you were to just stop, pause and look around, you could begin to experience life’s extraordinary beauty. "Just by giving ourselves the ‘gift’ of opening our eyes and be willing to see clearly, we will experience the wonder and magic on this planet like never before."

Arpad goes on to say "Photography can be classical, whimsical, realistic, dramatic, breath taking or artistic. It can be created through the eye of just the photographer and his camera or enhanced and embellished in a lab. What really matters is not how the photograph was created, but what emotions that photograph invoked in you. Does it make you want to own it, experience it, taste it, be it or do it. After all, this is our life, what we experience and believe about the world , is our perception of it. “
