Artist Statement Gary Detonnancourt Photography

Gary has been a photographer for the past five years. He has worked part time as the photographer for the town of Burrillville, taking photos of town events and scenery. Three years ago Gary started the Northern Rhode Island Camera Club in order to further the hobby of photography in our area. He is still currently the President of the Club and offers seminars at the clubs monthly meetings. During his time in the camera club he has won many camera club competitions with his nature photography. Gary also does stock photography for agencies like Shutterstock, Istock, Alamy, and Dreamstime.

Gary has been an educator for the last fifteen years in the areas of science, technology, and photography. In 1998, Gary was awarded the technology teacher of the year award for the state of Rhode Island by Microsoft and Technology & Learning Magazine.

Gary has expanded his business to include product photography and fine art duplication and printing. He continues to provide wedding and event photography. Gary also donates his time to photograph many charity events as a way of giving back to his community.

One of his greatest joys in photography is doing portraits of young children, because their poses are so genuine and natural. Gary has three daughters Anya, Ava, and Alyssa who are his most frequent models for experimenting with new portrait designs.
