Description This is a photograph of an artwork originally drawn in charcoal on paper in 2006. My artistic process involved facing the blank page and allowing a drawing to appear from my subconscious. Oskar was my new kitten at the time and was bonding with me with ferocious feline intensity. I was not surprised to see an image of him appear.Charcoal is a wonderfully messy and tactile medium to work with and gives deep blacks and much tonal contrast.
Talisa Tulip, Sydney Member Since May 2007 Artist Statement After visiting a gallery absolutely everything looks like a work of art to me. I love to see beauty in unlikely places, if I am to be perfectly honest, it is my raison d’etre. Identifying as an artist gives me the inner freedom I need in order to comment, observe and interact with humans and other creatures in creative ways, making sense out of the world we inhabit.
I am also an art educator. I enjoy connecting teenagers with interesting artists, ideas and concepts in the visual arts.
