Description While meandering down a side street of an old gold mining town, I came across a stone face sticking out of the ground. We moved past the stone head to find another and another. I became fascinated with the real likeness of the face and the way the light cast a shadow creating an eerie feeling. The giant culvert in the picture is another eerie place I found during a hike. It was a perfect match for the stone face.
Vincent Dileo, auburn Member Since April 2010 Artist Statement Throughout the years photography has been my passion. I have gone through many different phases as a photographer. Starting early in life with a camera in my hand has shaped the way I see the world. Today, I see things much differently than when I started documenting events as a news photographer.
I remember reading somewhere that “Change is the only constant in life”, and this has certainly been true for me.
Many of my photographs take on a surrealistic nuance. I take photographs from the past and bring life to them. Sometimes I add a splash of color, change the contrast or create a collage from many images. For me, this goes way beyond capturing what I see. It allows me to have unlimited control where I can create a mood, fantasy or futuristic city.
