Artist Statement Scott Wallin studied and worked in the fine arts from early childhood, eventually earning a BS in Fine Arts (Art History, Ceramics majors) at Portland State and later completed graduate works at the Rhode Island School of Design.

Scott showed and sold his work in galleries until the mid 80s, at which time he entered into the early computer game industry. Scott spent the next 25 years as an executive in the electronic game industry, his last venture being the CEO of a mobile game company.

Scott began drawing the Particle Track 2011 series in December 2010 after a series of cosmic events wacked him back into the fine arts world where he belongs today.

"These pieces are drawing themselves" Scott explained in a recent interview, "and although one can discuss these works formally and have a rewarding time doing so, for me these pieces are absolutely and fundamentally developed with a vocabulary of their own design, using parts of the brain commonly referred to as the spiritual centers, or the unconscious constructs, or more historically, the heart."

More Back Story:

The Particle Track series began in 1979 while Scott spent evenings at a job in the RISD parking garage watching empty car stalls, and reading CERN, FermiLab and SLAC journals, and books like the Dancing Wu Li Masters, the Tao of Physics, Be Here Now, etc. and sketching the rudimentary drawings that were later to become the 1980s Particle Track Original Series.

Under the direction of such mentors as artists Mel Katz and Laura Ross-Paul, Scott began drawing the figure extensively while creating more developed elements of the Particle Track Original Series, and began showing and selling his works in Portland Oregon galleries.

Scott's professional career took him into the advertising and marketing worlds, becoming a Creative Director, a Promotions Manager, all while asking himself... "how did I get here?" The next logical step was of course; join in the fledgling computer/video game industry at it's nascent stages and ride that amazing carpet for 25 years - while raising a family and gaining valuable business acumen as an executive and entrepreneur in the Seattle area.

Through some cosmic coincidences, and many many surgeries on an old college soccer injury, Scott emerged from the hospital in the winter of 2010 with an uncanny drive to create the 2011 Particle Track Series... and for no good reason other than they had to be drawn there is a body of work for you to purchase and enjoy today.
