Artist Statement I received a B.A. Degree in Art from Texas A & M University, but did not seriously pursue my love of painting until retiring in 2003. My preferred medium is watercolor. Living near the ocean in California, I am inspired by the many shore birds in the area - pelicans, egrets, and herons. The Bolsa Chica Wetlands is a favorite location to view these birds and receive inspiration for my paintings. I also love to travel and receive many ideas for paintings from trips to scenic locations, such as New England and Alaska. I am an avid, if amateur, photographer and combine these two interests by taking photographs that I later convert to paintings. I am a member of the local Huntington Beach Art League (HBAL) and display my work at their shows and meetings. I have been recognized with awards of "best of show" and "first place watercolor" by that organization.
