Description Phoenix came to Paws Animal Wildlife Sanctuary in 2007. He was so completely emaciated that the veterinarian who first saw him did not believe that he could recover. However, since Phoenix showed a will to live, we decided to give him that chance. Phoenix has recovered fully except for an eye condition that prevents him from being able to hunt successfully. After acquiring the necessary federal paperwork, Phoenix has been adopted as one of our educational program animals and now receives his food on a plate each day in exchange for making public appearances to teach people about Red Tailed Hawks.http://www.paws-sc.com

Artist Statement Paws Animal Wildlife Sanctuary, Inc is a state and federally licensed, non-profit organization focusing on wildlife education, rescue and rehabilitation based out of South Carolina.

Education: While zoos provide an educational experience that teaches about many species of animals throughout the world, one rarely finds information there regarding the animals that live in our own back yard Our goal is to teach peaceful coexistence with our wild neighbors while calmly explaining the need for safety.

Rescue: While there are hundreds of species of animals available for people to have as pets, it is often difficult to find a shelter that will handle exotics or wild animals. While our facilities are not large enough to accommodate unwanted pets, we have helped connect homeless wild and exotic animals with people and facilities who want them. We have even adopted several of them ourselves.

Rehabilitation: We have nearly 20 years of licensed experience rehabilitating wildlife and have resources available to assist with any new species that may come to us. We rehabilitate orphaned, sick and injured wildlife and return them to their native habitat, where they belong.

Our website contains many photographs of our permanent animals as well as our rehab animals. We now offer videos of our recent releases on our YouTube page!
