Artist Statement I paint in watercolor and acrylic. My Dad studied oil painting in New York City for a time, but did not pursue art as a career. I watched him sketch and paint when I was a child and still marvel at how he (and my talented sister) so easily create beautiful images with a brush. Other favorite artists include Caroline Garland, Matthew Bates, Rie Munoz, JIm Fowler, and George Rogers. I teach voice and sing opera, and music has influenced my work. Music and painting can both tell a story, but a painting lasts longer than an aria.

I like to watch birds and listen to them sing, and my husband would say that I talk to them and other creatures -- no comment. Most of my work is inspired by patterns, stories, and mysteries that I observe in Nature. I'm working on writing and illustrating a story for children, featuring characters you can find in my gallery, including Seli and Corvus, who inhabit a secret world in nature.

I enjoy painting with my daughters, who are creative and talented young ladies.
