Artist Statement Not wanting to be one of those people who went through life saying “ I always wanted to be an artist, writer, etc.” Stephanie began painting in 1995.
Her favourite subject is medieval Judaica, but she also paints horses, children, Japanese geisha girls and she has done a series on Eve in the style of Norval Morisseau. Recently, she finished a series called "The Colours of the Caribbean" and has also started using middle eastern motifs. Stephanie uses up to 10 layers of acrylic paint to achieve the bright colours that she requires.
Stephanie has exhibited paintings at Her Gallery and the Fainting Couch in Ottawa, Canada and has also exhibited and sold paintings at Arts Alive at the Jewish Community Centre. She was also a member of the the Jewish Artists’ Guild.
Stephanie has two paintings on permanent exhibition at the Jewish Community Centre in Ottawa, Canada. She also has a triptych based on Old Testament stories and twelve paintings based on New Testament stories in the chapel at Rideau Gardens Retirement Residence in Ottawa. While employed as office manager at Rideau Gardens, Stephanie taught arts and crafts to the residents some of whom worked on the New Testament paintings.
While employed as Executive Director at Congregation Beth Shalom in Ottawa, Stephanie revised their logo and photographs of four of her paintings were published in Congregation Beth Shalom's annual calendar.
In 2007 Stephanie exhibited at The Electric Gallery in Ottawa and also participated in "Diaspora - Voices from 19 Jewish Artists in Ottawa" at the Cube Gallery.
