Artist Statement I'm an artist living in Oklahoma. I have been drawing all my life, and am what many people refer to as a self-taught artist. I prefer to think that I was blessed by God with a natural ability and a passion for constantly learning. I have also been an animal lover so animals have always been a favorite subject to draw and paint.
With my pet portraits I simply aim to put a smile on people’s faces. I start out with an idea of which animal I would like to paint, and what aspect I would like to focus on, whether it’s a Siamese cat’s intense blue-eyed stare or the huge grin on a pit bull’s face. I love using colors to bring out the personality of my subject and set the mood of the piece.
