Description This was taken at Caudan Waterfront, Port Louis, Mauritius. The yachts and catamarans were harboured in the main marina and at the back I saw these colourful boats tied to one side. This is a late afternoon shot, which is why the light is so good. And all the while that I was there in Port Louis, the sky remained either a dark blue or ominously charcoal gray, but never rained.
Arkamitra Roy, Kolkata, West Bengal Member Since March 2010 Artist Statement Photography gives me a high like nothing else. The process of capturing the inherent beauty of things, at times even searching for the beautiful in the ugly and the mundane, and then transforming that into an artwork that gives pleasure to viewers and myself, is definitely a wondrous thing. Sometimes, the camera does not capture what the eye sees and sometimes it exceeds. The exhilaration that I feel when I see my photographs capturing reality and mood perfectly is unmatched by anything else.
I am by profession an art researcher and as a photographer I am completely self taught. Even though most of my images are not heavily photoshopped, and some completely untouched, I am fascinated by the transformation that happens when photoshop is creatively used to enhance rather than alter the reality. Most of my photographs belong to the travel and nature genres.
