Vikki Higginbotham, Great Falls Member Since March 2009 Artist Statement I received my first camera at the age of 12. Through the years I dabbled in landscapes and nature. In 2006 I was given the opportunity to shoot photographs at our local stock car dirt track. Being from Montana we have a limited season for racing so I jumped back into shooting photos of Big Sky Country. Family and friends assisted in allowing me to branch into portrait photography. I have competed in the Montana State Fair taking home a first place and an honorable mention. I also submitted photos into the local mall's people's choice competition. In early 2007 I grouped with 132 photographers all over the world and compiled a coffee table book of the 50 states and our nation's capitol. Since then I have learned much from most of the contributors and have grown in my experience to assist others starting out in the business with tips and tricks of the trade. The person who influences my photography the most is my mother. She is my biggest critic and mentor when it comes to landscape photography. Growing up in Montana where there is a mountain range within an hour in each direction has given me ample opportunity to take a drive and capture our beautiful nature and wildlife.
