Stephen Stevenson, St. Pons de Thomieres - France Member Since December 2007 Artist Statement A brief introduction to the self taught English contemporary portrait Artist STEPHEN STEVENSON born in Leeds Yorkshire in 1949 but who has lived in the Languedoc region of SW France for the past 14 years.
He has presented and/or participated in over 60 exhibitions since 2000. Perhaps most notably the prestigious "Espace Riquet" in Beziers and priviliged to be the guest artists of honour at the "Salon de Printemps" in Maraussan.
He has gained much critical and press acclaim dubbed some time ago as "Le Peintre du Regard" - "The Painter of the Look"
He was recently selected to exhibit at the Salon d'Automne 2007 de La Grande Motte where over 500 candidates from around the world competed for 40 places and in October 2007 made is debut on the côte d'Azur at the Galerie Art & Fire in Nice.
