Artist Statement My influences are heavily figurative, including a passion for u-kiyoe prints, the impressionists, Alice Neel, Frida Kahlo, Kiki Smith, Gustav Klimt, Carravaggio, & Duane Michals. My background in art history informs much of my work, referencing much has come before, be it medieval illuminated manuscripts , Chinese scholar painting, or 20th century Mexican surrealism. Through it all, I hope to derive something that is uniquely my own.
