Clark Fairfield, Los Angeles Member Since December 2007 Artist Statement Clark’s oil paintings are full of sensuality. Inspired by one of the most famous and prolific artists of the twentieth century, Pablo Picasso, with a blend Surrealism and Neo-expressionism. Every canvas revels the artist’s sense of dramatic composition, each a visual rendering of line, color and texture. Clark’s interest in pursuing fine art began in 1979 when he earned a partial art scholarship to the University of Maryland, where he majored in Fine Arts and Commercial Advertising. Born and raised in Clinton, Maryland, Clark began drawing at a very early age. Drawing was his fascination and means of creative expression and visualization of his surroundings. After years of working in various art mediums, oil painting is his exclusive method of creating his dramatic art. His unique blend of commercial advertising and fine art has inspired him to keep art true to form. Also as a collector of fine art master pieces, time in Paris, Amsterdam, Spain and further art studies, his interested in surrealism, human form and visual technique grew. He is endlessly intrigued by the human form that is simplistically captured in the realm of emotion and surrealism. Each piece telling its own story of human spirit. Clark’s career has taken him all over the world. He currently resides in Los Angeles as an accomplished graphic designer and fine artist.
