Artist Statement Monique Rodriguez has been a freelance writer for many years. Her work has been published in various magazines and newspaper in the Spanish market, as well as on social online magazines such as; Suite101, ezine articles. One of her articles "The Healing Art of Nature Photography" recently featured in Nature Photographer magazine Winter 2011/2012 edition.

Her love for photography sprang while attending Empire State College in NYC. She had decided to take a course on photojournalism just to fulfill the general requirements for the Arts, but while under the mentor-ship of Mel Rosenthal, (author of 'In the South Bronx of America') her eyes were opened to the unsurpassable power of photography as the perfect medium to change world perceptions. She also had the opportunity that same semester to work under the wing of award winning photographer, Sylvia Plachy. Presently, she has taken the nature route and enjoys taking pictures of the natural world to accompany articles encouraging sustainable living and wildlife conservation. With this gallery, she intends to imprint the beauty of the natural world into the consciousness of visitors, giving them an opportunity to appreciate the living masterpieces of this world and to take action in protecting and conserving their delicate habitats.
