Artist Statement My name is Ryan Baxter. I have a hard time saying that I'm an artist. The way I see it is, I'm a guy that likes to take pictures and hopefully some of you will like what you see. I only started doing photography about a year ago. One night, I was downtown with my wife for her hair appointment and I got bored so I walked outside, grabbed the 3.0 megapixel point-n-shoot we had in the car, and started taking pictures. Two weeks later I had the bug and all I wanted to do with my free time was shoot photos wherever I could. I bought a better camera and started looking for ways to get better every day.

I have always loved art and when I was a kid I was decent with a pencil but that was a long time ago. The camera has allowed me to let my "eye" be used again, despite the fact that the hand is gone. I have always been drawn to older things, even when I was drawing. Now I seem to focus on things that most people pass by in day to day life without looking at twice. I see the beauty of these objects and hopefully bring the attention needed back to them.
