Artist Statement I am a self-taught artist trying to find my ways in the art world. I began painting and drawing early and got some tuition in some local art institutions. Won some prizes at some local impromptu art competitions as well which encouraged my parents to explore my artistic talents. Sadly economic hard times and studies put paid to that dream. While deprived of any institutionalized art education I continued to paint in almost exclusively in Watercolors (although the technique I used was thick opaque layers much like oils). It was when I found the book series " The Great Artists" that my eye was opened to what great art can be and can mean. After I got a secure job, I started taking tuition from some art school graduates who taught me the different media for drawing and painting - notably oils, acrylics and conte! It was after my mother's untimely and shattering demise that I threw myself into art and started displaying in public places and exhibitions. I have exhibited in notable galleries in Kolkata and Delhi.
