Artist Statement …travelling and exploring our beautiful country with my wife, Janet, is rewarding and, at times, exhilarating… recording all that natural splendour with my camera allows us to share the enjoyment of our experiences with other people, with people like you.

Many of our travels are along the scenic Pacific West Coast, which offers a multitude of possibilities and adventures to photograph… from salty seascapes to lustrous landscapes to mesmerizing mountainscapes, and from unpredictable wildlife to multi-hued wildflowers and the giant West Coast forests. And, not to forget… the numerous story-telling indigenous totem poles.

We experience the joys and challenges of all four seasons; like the time we had a flat tire, in winter, in the middle of the night on the Alaska highway… our reward the next day, in minus 40 degree Celsius, was soaking in a hot spring, under a sunny sky, surrounded by a snowy wonderland of frost-covered trees. Or, like the time we were caught in a summer downpour, soaked to the bone, and then Mother Nature offered a brief photographic moment with a splendid double rainbow.

Whether hiking barefoot on sand dune ridges at sunrise, or hiking in flower-filled (and deerfly-filled) alpine meadows, encountering mother bear with two cubs along the way, our travels can be peaceful or exciting; but they are worthwhile, and, of course, we are always prepared for the unexpected… like a bighorn sheep licking the salt on our winter tires.
