Artist Statement Why do I paint landscapes? I’ve always enjoyed the great outdoors, but I think it takes me back, psychologically, to my childhood when my grandfather would take me for long walks in the woods near where we lived. I think that also piqued my interest in wildlife too.

It’s taken a couple of years now to get to the stage where I am confident enough to show my work to people and to consider selling my work. Since gaining that confidence I have sold artwork to buyers in both the UK and the US. Since I’ve kept all my work through the many months I can see a huge difference in both style and colouration. My colours now are more bright and less standard, adventurous even. Probably Burnt Umber is my most used colour since not only can it bring warmth to a painting but it can be mixed with blue to create a lovely dark, not black, colour.

That feeling of being somewhere else is what I want to capture in my paintings.
