Artist Statement I have made two big lifestyle shifts over the years. The first one occurred many years ago when I divorced my husband, left my job as a high school English Teacher and moved to Laguna Beach in Southern California. Not knowing what I wanted to do with my life, I got a temporary job as a cocktail waitress at a Jolly Roger Restaurant. I knew I'd just made a really big leap when one day as I hustled cocktails through the crowd,I ran smack dab into a student who had been in one of my classes only a few months before. He was a bus-boy in the same restaurant.
I'm not sure which one of us was more shocked by this incongruous meeting as there I stood in my knee-hight boots, skirt up to my derriere balancing a tray of margaritas.
