Artist Statement Cape Cod artist Ezartesa.
Art is part of my life since my childhood. At age of 7 I started to study piano and ever since music is integral part of my painting and jewelry. My source of inspiration comes from events which I experience, or perhaps a place I have been to. It is all a reflection of my personal response towards that which uniquely touches my heart and soul. It is the most exciting feeling when I can share my emotions and feelings with others through my art, not with words, but by using colors and forms which represent how I feel.
I make beaded adornments that combine Classic Native American, African Zulu, and Victorian bead-weaving techniques with unique combinations of semiprecious stones, good quality gold, silver, metal plated seed beads, Czech and German glass, Swarovski crystals that are elegant, exciting and different.
My goal is to design one of kind jewelry, which could be passed from generation to generations. I want people feel good wearing my jewelry. Feel unique and special. I always select my beads on the basis of quality, beauty, and appeal. Good work begins with good materials.
I paint in oils, acrylics, watercolor and use mix media.
Painting is my passion. It’s an obsession! I see a blank canvas and I can’t wait to start putting paint on it. Each tiny stroke for me is mysterious and beguiling. The act of creating the painting is pure pleasure.
I am inspired by flowers for their obvious beauty. They are also very expressive of our inner feelings and psychological state. I fill the canvas with them to express an abundance of life and strong feeling. Flowers, like people, are completely individual- each has its own personal aura and style. Some are radiant with stunning colors. Others are striking for their fair, quiet, almost whispering tones. A flower is the ideal subject for experimentation. I approach flowers with a freedom of spirit and jest let my brain rest when I paint them.
I have two visions: one the vision of the eye, the other the vision of the mind or imagination. While painting the subject, I begin to simplify the form and erase details for emphasis and purity. I vitalize flowers and fill them with sense, with new life. Trying to reproduce the light and mood of the subject, I experiment with composition, tone and color, seeking a balance.
My art is expressed in two forms: Modern Impressionism and abstract.
My work evolves, it changes, and it comes to me in different ways. In studio I experimenting and pulling together things that move in a harmonious and balanced direction. When you have the brush in your hand, and the paint, and the medium, and the ego is out of the way, I think it just happens: the mystery.
My award winning art has been viewed in many juried exhibitions, galleries, and private collections.
