Description The Shanghai International Circuit is best known as the venue for the annual Formula 1 Chinese Grand Prix, which it first hosted in 2004. The circuit cost approximately 2.6 billion yuan ($450 million). The circuit layout roughly mirrors the Chinese character Shang, it features medium to slow speed corners and a straight where the drivers are flat out for almost 1.4 kilometres. A distinctive featureof the track is the long right-hander which opens the lap, through which the drivers turn over 270 degrees before switching back.
