Photography was riveting for me. I grew up in an Italian immigrant home after the 2nd World War. Our home was filled with the ambience of Italian sights, sounds and customs. What was most mesmerizing was the community my family shared at the kitchen table. Here we talked every night at dinner, about our day. Italian women played an important role in my family. My mother left an
impression on me that is still with me. These experiences shaped me and are the foundation of my art and creative expression.

In 1969, while on leave from the U.S. Navy, a friend invited me to a fashion shoot. That experience hooked me from that day on the allure of the magic of photography. When I returned to my base, I bought a camera and began making art instead of taking pictures.

As a fashion photographer I discovered a tapestry of colors and emotions with my subjects. The key to being a fashion photographer is all about the moment. In Eastern philosophy it’s called “No Mind”. I learned to focus on what is in front of you, not around you.

Recently entering into the world of fine art photography, although his subject matter may be different, his current images reflect the same exotic sensuality found in his commercial fashion work. The earthiness simplicity and technik of his images, the weaving of patterns that were once clothing now become a Leaf like a nylon stocking or textures of a wall like a woolen coat. The Graffiti that he creates from firework displays. Textures that you can feel with your eyes.

Over the years as a photographer, I developed an affinity for water themed shots. Water is life. I like the way my subjects respond to the element of water. It has a calming and sensual effect on everyone. This relationship with water can be felt behind the lens as well.

After the thousands of photographs I have done, I still approach each shoot with a special glint in my eye. With the same sensation I had in 1969 when I saw my first fashion shoot. My eyes and spirit are as wide open as ever.
