Description The Old Sheldon Church Ruins are in Beaufort County, South Carolina. It was originally Price William's Parrish Church, built in 1745 to 1755. The British burned it in 1779, the parishioners rebuilt it in 1826, and General Sherman's army destroyed it (by burning or gutting) in 1865. Today, the walls remain, surrounded by live oaks, dripping with Spanish moss. Some scenes from The Big Chill were filmed here!
