Description This painting uses the basic method used to create the 'magic eye' computer generated images in which upon gazing at the image with a relaxed eye, certain parts of the image come forward to look three dimensional, as if floating just above the background image. In this hand-created graphic, the green balls move and emmerge as 3-D images when the painting is viewed intently with a relaxed gaze. This effect so interested me because it calls forth an easily perceived perceptual shift in the mind of the viewer. Upon gazing, this 2-D image appears to move and vibrate in addition to eliciting the 3-D effect of the balls. I created this painting as a meditational tool with the purpose of aiding the viewer to perceive other perceptual shifts in their ordinary reality in order to create an opening of the mind through the exercise of meditational gazing.
Diana Moats, Crestone Member Since October 2008 Artist Statement My goal as an artist is to skillfully tap into the flow of 'all that is' which I believe is the pinnacle of creative experience and expression, thereby allowing the artist to channel consciously or unconsciously, inherent truths of the universe, including information, insights and perspective closer to the SOURCE.
My approach to fulfilling this goal has been the superposition of the rational and the imagination to express a fuller reality than what we experience in our ordinary awareness.
My current artistic path is an evolution of my previous ideas, using paintings as a pure visual meditative tool to transform the consciousness of the viewer and invoke a remembrance.
I continue to merge the objective and subjective and to use ancient and comtemporary symbols, sacred geometry and optical effects to create paintings that the viewer does not merely look at but also experiences in a personal, direct way.
Keep posted! I will continue to add images to my current collection as they manifest! Namaste!
