Artist Statement Following an academic and largely lonely childhood, I discovered photography whilst working with kids in Easterhouse, Glasgow. Quickly learning how to develop black and white photographs, I shared these skills with them to help them look at themselves and the world they live in. I went on to develop these skills as a hobby with friends, learning many different techniques. I combined these techniques with another of my interests; travel. I have, over the years, built up a personal library from nearly seventy countries. Digital photography brought its' changes and I want to develop my photography combining artistry with a sense of integrity, avoiding the contrivance that people fear from contemporary photography. I married an artist and look forward to many years of photography and travel. I like to communicate complex feeling using imagery, but also share something of the world to others to see. Guess I'm still using photography to look at myself and the world around me.
