Artist Statement Kayla Whitaker was born in Norman, Oklahoma in 1986, where she is currently living and working. She is attending the University of Oklahoma where she is studying to receive her Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Studio Arts. Her main focuses are painting and drawing, and she will graduate in May of 2010 while also receiving a Minor in Art History. Her work has been seen in several group exhibitions including the 95th Annual School of Art and Art History Student’s Juried Exhibition at the University of Oklahoma in 2009, where her painting called “Dark Forest” was accepted. Also, in 2008, her drawing called “Supermodel” was published in “Windmill”, a publication sponsored by World Literature Today at the University of Oklahoma.
