Description This image was made using a long exposure on Ilford Delta 100 black and white film with a 4x5 view camera. The slipway appears to disappear into the mist of the waves created by the long exposure, while the jetty is suspended above. The ocean stretches to some distant coastal mountain peaks, and drama is added by the moody sky and clouds. The image was made at a place called Witsand on the Cape Peninsula, Cape Town, South Africa and the slipway services small boats that go out to catch lobster in the area.
James Puttick, Cape Town Member Since June 2015 Artist Statement I am a photographer from Cape Town, South Africa. I fell in love with photography when my father handed an old Nikkormat film camera down to me when I was in my teens, and it has remained a passion ever since. I create images using a digital camera as well as medium format and 4x5 film cameras. Most of my images are made around Cape Town and further afield in southern Africa.
