Artist Statement I have always been interested in photography. The advent of digital photography has allowed me to experiment with macro photography, review the results instantly, and take another picture if the first isn’t quite what I’m looking for. I try to take the “finished” picture rather than manipulate it using the computer - I prefer to be outdoors!
I am fascinated by the natural world, with its rich variety of patterns and colours. I find the closer I look the more there is to see. There is so much beauty and harmony on our doorstep that is often overlooked. I like to photograph the familiar in a way that encourages the viewer to take a second look. For me, a photograph is a success if it causes the viewer to pause and reflect.
Almost all of my photographs are taken within 5 miles of my home. I can go out for two hours with my camera in hand and get no further than the fields behind my house!
