Description While flying cover for the evacuation of Dunkirk, Deere bailed out of his damaged Spitfire behind German lines and made his way to the evacuation beaches by bus, bicycle and on foot. He had the dubious distinction of bailing out or crash landing nine times during the war. He was assigned to No. 54 Squadron at Catterick, England during the Battle of Britain. He survived the war with 21 confirmed kills. The illustration of the Spitfire is highly detailed down to the rivets, panel lines and weathering...an active fighter doesn't look perfect. Illustration of the pilot was done on a Wacom tablet.
