Artist Statement Russel is a retired United States Air Force Master Sergeant. Due to the nature of his job, Russel spent a lot of time in the field and sleeping in some very uncomfortable positions. He swore when he retired he would never sleep on the ground and then he picked up a camera to do nature and landscape photography and sleeps on the ground a lot!

He approaches photography with what he calls "attitude." Russel feels that art should be edgy and get the attention of the public. That is why he takes the risks he does to get the shots he does.
