Artist Statement Martyn grew up in the shadows of the once smoking chimneys of Burnley Lancashire England. The self-taught artist has produced hundreds of images from his artistic passions...he began drawing doodling at a very earlyage , Armed with such a unlimited source of inspiration, Martyn says he does not have any favorite subject to paint...although he likes to paint things that have a life of their own...to express motion and emotion ..each work stands on its own merits...I learn from each piece

Martyn now favors acrylics and watercolors. I've always felt the subject suggests the type of medium to use, which I think naturally changes my style slightly. The limitations or quality of the mediums ;chosen can also be decisive ... Martyn was steered away from the art room by the teachers at Burnley Grammar School towards the maths and physics departments. Whilst studying Physics and Maths at Habergham High school Martyn would sneak into the art classes although not officially part of his curriculum these art classes would become Martyn's only formal training in high school, fortunately several students and professors saw his talent and encouraged him to persue his art.
