Artist Statement I was born in Russia, and was first introduced to the world of painting when I was 6 years old by my father. He had a lot of books with colorful reproductions of famous paintings from all over the world. I remember spending hours staring at Leonardo da Vinci, Mikelandjelo, and Rembrandt works. But Salvador Dali paintings had the most profound effect on me at that time. I started to copy the pictures from these books.
When I moved to the US, I saw the opportunity to develop my painting skills. I began to paint in acrylics first, but soon switched to oils. Oil paints are very versatile. They provide vibrant colors and give time for the image to evolve.
I can't define my style of painting yet because it is constantly changing and improving. My only never changing habit is staring at a blank canvas for some time to see the picture within.
