Description This emotional portrait is of Stig Olin (perhaps better known as the actress Lena Olin's father - you can definitely see the resemblance!). The director Ingmar Bergman featured him in many off his early films, such as 'Prison,' from which the still that inspired this drawing was taken. Olin has one of the most expressive faces I have ever seen, which is used to great effect in the films he was in.This was the first large oil pastel drawing I ever did, and the fun I had making it (despite the somewhat gloomy expression) urged me to continue making and improving my artwork!
Anya Ciccone, Chicago Member Since May 2011 Artist Statement I am a self-taught artist who specializes in portraits. I can spend hours on one face alone! People and their expressions are an endless source of inspiration for me.
I look at art as a process and a concentration exercise, and I hope to convey this in my work. I hope you like interacting with the work as much as I love interacting with it myself.
