Artist Statement Essentially I paint because it makes me happy (most of the time) and if I dont do it I can get sort of tense. I like paint and I like the marks and shapes it makes, and I dont think that it has anything to do with Freud (Ziggy) in case you're wondering. TBH I like the marks paint makes more than whether 'it' looks like a tree or something. But sometimes it does.

One of those children who grew up holding a pencil or a pen,book or pad, or later, a brush. When the time came I travelled through art schools, did a lot of Life classes and learnt a bit more Art History ( I started at school school ) and so on. When I came out of my art school's I worked as a Freelance Illustrator for a time. Life introduced other opportunities to me but Art stayed with me in one form or another.

I've made quite a lot of pictures and used a number of different types of mediums, gouache, acrylics, pencil, collage, etc. I do my art on paper or canvas. I like painting and drawing and make no apologies for it. I'm not ruling out other stuff I just don't do it (well not yet anyway).

My interest in exploring various styles and subjects may have something to do with my having dipped into 'commercial art': or maybe the urge to try new ideas and forms is just 'normal' for an artist. Or maybe it's just the way my mind works.

My current interests are ....to be honest pretty much everything...I continue to be fascinated by the look of things around me.....
