b. 1973 Residence: Moscow, Russia
From 1996 to 2000 I studied with Oleg Savostyuk, head of the department of graphics at Moscow’s Surikov Academic Institute of Art. Professor Savostyuk is a remarkably talented artist and a great teacher. From him I not only learned technique but, because he encouraged my development, the self-confidence to make my own choices in creating my work.
In his final evaluation, he wrote , “[she has] her own style and vision, unique and different from others, with a gift for color and image. Her portraits, especially of children, are full of life and free of excess sentiment.”
During my 4 years in his studio, I also studied the craft of painter-decorator in animation school.
I participated in competitions and won two of them ("Artists Draw Moscow” and "Golden Gallery” sponsored by the magazine Art Board). I was represented by the galleries of the Central Artist Exhibition in Moscow, sold my works through them and participated in exhibitions.
In 2001-2007, I entered the Institute of Applied Humanities, Department of Interior Design, in the studio of Professor Telyatnikov, a Moscow architect. In 2007 I received my professional diploma in interior design.
In my painting I am most interested in portraits. I also like landscapes.
Portraits require psychological insight. I think I can see what is invisible in the ordinary lives of real people, with all their virtues and weaknesses, and describe on canvas their interior life. When I paint, I try to characterize both the good and bad sides of the individual.
Recently I decided to try a series of portraits of cats. Cats are to me the most interesting animals: each one has its own character. In their individuality and independence, cats are like people. I really enjoyed this project, and I’m happy with the result. Each cat’s own personality comes through.
In parallel, I worked on the flower series. I like drawing flowers, too: they are beautiful and spiritual, and they create a mood for painting. So I work expressively, hoping to convey their delicate beauty, lively colors and short-livedness.
