Lisa Woodburn, sacramento Member Since January 2009 Artist Statement Like most photographers, whether they be amateur or professional, I've been taking pictures of my surroundings since I was a child. I was the "official recorder" of all things momentous in my family and that tradition has continued as I've grown my own family. Much of my subject matter has revolved around family, sport or vacations until 2009 when I discovered a means of capturing pigment and light in a new way. Some times I use only the color itself to create unique images that last for only a second before they're gone. Other times I incorporate objects and wait for the pigment to interact with the objects before the image becomes a work of art. An interesting aspect to this work is the ability of the viewer to bring his or her own interpretation to the image, sometimes a very different vision than what I originally saw, but no less valid. As they say, beauty (and art) is in the eye of the beholder. I hope you enjoy my work and I encourage you to share your comments with me as I develop this artform.
**On Feb 10 2009, I was chosen as a Featured Member on Imagekind's front page. This was the first honor I have ever received as a photographer and it has inspired me to work even harder to develop this process.
